A 6-day journey from Fes to Marrakech across the Sahara, taking in the Erg Chebbi dunes of Merzouga, the Todra and Dades gorges, Ait Ben Haddou and a full day in Marrakech — the classic Morocco route in one direction.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Fes → Ifrane → Midelt → Merzouga
Your private Fes to Marrakech desert tour sets off through Ifrane — the 'Switzerland of Morocco' — and the Azrou cedar forest, where wild Barbary monkeys roam. Continuing south via Midelt and the palm-lined Ziz Valley, you arrive in Merzouga to ride camels into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes for a magical night in a Sahara desert camp.
Day 2: Merzouga → Rissani → Todra Gorge → Dades
After a spectacular Sahara sunrise, you visit the market town of Rissani, then travel to the dramatic red cliffs of the Todra Gorge before reaching the sculpted rock landscapes of the Dades Valley.
Day 3: Dades → Valley of the Roses → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou
Today you follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through the Valley of the Roses to Ouarzazate and the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a favourite Hollywood film location.
Day 4: Ait Ben Haddou → High Atlas → Marrakech
You cross the High Atlas Mountains over the scenic Tizi n'Tichka pass to Marrakech, arriving in time to experience the electric Jemaa el-Fna square by night.
Day 5: Marrakech city tour
A full-day guided tour of Marrakech takes in the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Majorelle Garden and the vibrant souks of the ancient medina.
Day 6: Marrakech → departure
Enjoy some free time in Marrakech for last-minute shopping before your transfer or onward journey.
