A 4-day desert crossing from Marrakech to Fes with more time in the Sahara — Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades and Todra gorges, the Merzouga dunes and a camel trek, ending in the imperial city of Fes.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate
Leaving the Red City of Marrakech, your private tour climbs the High Atlas Mountains over the breathtaking Tizi n'Tichka pass to the UNESCO World Heritage kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most photographed places in Morocco and a legendary Hollywood film location. You then continue to Ouarzazate, the 'gateway to the Sahara' and home of the world-famous Atlas Film Studios and the grand Taourirt Kasbah.
Day 2: Ouarzazate → Valley of the Roses → Dades Valley
Today you follow the legendary Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing the shady palm groves of Skoura and the fragrant Valley of the Roses, before reaching the sculpted rock formations and famous switchback roads of the dramatic Dades gorges.
Day 3: Dades → Todra Gorge → Merzouga
You explore the towering Todra Gorge in the morning, where red cliffs soar 300 metres overhead, then travel east to Merzouga, gateway to the great Erg Chebbi dunes. A sunset camel trek leads you deep into the Sahara for a magical night in a Berber desert camp beneath a canopy of stars.
Day 4: Merzouga → Midelt → Ifrane → Fes
After a spectacular Sahara sunrise over the dunes, you journey north through the oasis town of Rissani, Midelt and the palm-lined Ziz Valley, crossing the cedar forests of Ifrane — famous for its wild Barbary monkeys — before arriving in the ancient imperial city of Fes.
