Overview
A 4-day desert adventure from Agadir to the golden dunes of Merzouga (Erg Chebbi), taking in Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades Valley and the Todra Gorge, with a camel trek and a night in a Sahara camp.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Agadir → Marrakech → Ouarzazate
Your 4-day Sahara adventure from Agadir starts with a drive to Marrakech, followed by a spectacular crossing of the High Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m). You stop at the UNESCO World Heritage kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou — the film set for Gladiator and Game of Thrones — before continuing to Ouarzazate for the night.
Day 2: Ouarzazate → Dades Valley → Todra Gorge
Today you travel the legendary 'Road of a Thousand Kasbahs', winding through the Valley of the Roses and the lush Dades Valley to the towering red cliffs of the Todra Gorge, one of Morocco's most dramatic canyons.
Day 3: Todra → Merzouga → Erg Chebbi camp
Continuing east, you reach Merzouga and the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. In the late afternoon a camel caravan carries you over the sand to a comfortable desert camp for a Sahara sunset, dinner under the stars and a night in the heart of the desert.
Day 4: Merzouga → return
Rise before dawn for a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes, then trek back by camel and begin the scenic return drive across the Atlas Mountains towards Marrakech or Agadir.
