Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Rabat → Chefchaouen
Leave the capital and drive north through the green Rif Mountains to the enchanting blue-washed town of Chefchaouen, one of the most photogenic places in Morocco.
Day 2: Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Fes
Explore the cobalt-blue alleys of Chefchaouen in the morning, then travel south via the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the imperial city of Meknes to Fes.
Day 3: Fes city tour
A full-day guided tour of Fes reveals the world's largest car-free medina, the famous Chouara tanneries, historic madrasas and the spiritual heart of Morocco.
Day 4: Fes → Ifrane → Midelt → Merzouga
Journey south through Ifrane and the Middle Atlas cedar forests, then via Midelt and the palm-lined Ziz Valley to Merzouga, riding camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes for a night in a Sahara desert camp.
Day 5: Merzouga → Rissani → Todra Gorge → Dades
After a spectacular Sahara sunrise, visit the market town of Rissani, then travel to the towering red cliffs of the Todra Gorge and the sculpted Dades Valley.
Day 6: Dades → Valley of the Roses → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou
Follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through the Valley of the Roses to Ouarzazate and the magnificent UNESCO kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.
Day 7: Ait Ben Haddou → High Atlas → Marrakech
Cross the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka pass to Marrakech for your first evening on the famous Jemaa el-Fna square.
Day 8: Marrakech city tour
A full-day guided tour of the Red City — the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Majorelle Garden and the lively souks of the medina.
Day 9: Marrakech → Essaouira
Drive west to the breezy Atlantic port of Essaouira, with its UNESCO-listed medina, historic sea ramparts and relaxed, artistic atmosphere.
Day 10: Essaouira → departure
Enjoy Essaouira's blue harbour and sandy beach in the morning before your final transfer or onward journey.
